Enjoyed your fun-filled super long weekend holiday over Hari Raya Puasa and National Day? It’s time to do some good deeds and give back to society and some attention to the less fortune. Here are some initiatives for you to embark on this August.

 

APB_80 Years of Doing Well and Doing GoodAsia Pacific Breweries Singapore Celebrates 80 Years of Doing Well and Doing Good

Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (APBS) has just published a book titled, “Celebrating 80 years of Doing Well and Doing Good” on their history, milestones and icons throughout the past 80 years. It tells the story of how the Tiger Beer brand and APB Singapore’s iconic beer brands have made a great name for Singapore all over the world, and have been a mainstay of the Singapore society since 1932.

Books retail for S$25 and will be sold at the Tiger Brewery and Society for the Physically Disabled Ability Centre. 100% of all book sale proceeds goes to Society for the Physically Disabled. APBS has also pledged an additional donation of $10,000 to support the society

APBS will also be holding a silent charity auction, where 5 books (autographed by Dr Michael Fam, chairman of Asia Pacific Breweries and Jean-François van Boxmeer, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Heineken N.V.) will be auctioned off, at a starting bid of S$800. Make-A-Wish Dishes at Marina Bay Sands

From 16- to 18 August 2013, Marina Bay Sands will be holding their inaugural Sands For Singapore Festival where visitors will be part of their first-ever large-scale charity festival to benefit Singapore. One of such events will be ‘Make A Wish’ Dishes. Celebrity chef restaurants and selected tenants at Marina Bay Sands will be offering a total of 21 Wish Dishes to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Marina Bay Sands will donate 50% of proceeds from these Wish Dishes towards this meaningful cause. Participating outlets include CUT, db Bistro Moderne, Guy Savoy, Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza, Sky on 57®, Waku Ghin, 1983 – A Taste of Nanyang, Bazin, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf – Beanstro, High Society, Jin Shan, The Moluccas Room, Rasapura Masters and TWG.

Together with ZALORA’s beauty suppliers from the likes of SK-II and NCLA, they have created a “ZALORA Beauty Fix”. 100% of sales from these beauty boxes will go to YWCA’s Youth Centre and YWCA Girls’ Hostel to create a safe haven for disadvantaged youths regardless of race or religion.

If you have limited budget but yet you want to help out the society, dogood.sg by FairPrice Foundation offers you to submit a “Make A Difference” idea and you may receive a grant of up to S$5,000 to carry out your good deed project.

The Do Good initiative is set to encourage Singaporeans to perform simple acts of good deeds, and to share the joy of giving with their family and friends. By taking the initial steps towards doing good, the Foundation hopes that they can be an influence to family, friends and the broader community to do the same.

 

 

WebSony Book Donation Drive To South Africa

Sony Group of Companies in Singapore will be conducting its annual book donation drive from 5 to 25 August 2013 to support education efforts in South Africa. Started in 2008, the South Africa Mobile Library Project aims to enhance the lives of children through reading and members of the public are invited to help support this cause by donating new or second-hand English-language children’s books suitable for ages 6 to 12.

Sony is aiming to collect 13,000 books in Singapore this year, adding to the 44,000 that have been collected since 2008. For more information, please visit link here.
