It’s Disney’s Sparkling Christmas at Hong Kong Disneyland from now till 5 January 2014. Soak in the Christmas spirit with Mickey head-shaped Christmas wreaths and ornaments as you enter the park on Disney Main Street USA. Mickey & his Disney friends are all dressed up for this joyous season, while bringing special Christmas themed performances for this limited period only. Check out our video for a sneak peek on the happenings for this Christmas:
Every night, Santa Mickey, Minnie & Goofy will light up the 90,000 LED lights on the giant Christmas Tree on Main Street USA with a parade on their Christmas sleigh. Joined by Christmas carollers and majestic dancers holding luminous giant snowflakes to complete the Christmas Illumination with seasonal tunes and a grand music march. Then after, it will start ‘snowing‘ on Main Street USA.
There are also new Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy sculptures dolled up with Christmas décor to greet you from the front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Since 2011, Hong Kong Disneyland has expanded its park with three new attraction zones that have fantastic rides that are worthy of your visit again. Toy Story Land opened in 2011 while Grizzly Gulch opened in 2012 and Mystic Point opened in 2013. This Christmas, these three zones will feature special puppet shows with enchanting stories to share and even interact with kids to stimulate their imagination with Disney friends such as Buzz Lightyear, Lord Henry and many more.
There are also limited edition Disney’s Christmas winter wear, gifts and décors available in gifts shops around the theme park. Remember to cater extra budget as well as luggage space for these gifts as they are irresistibly cute and you may want to bring back some to remember your magical experience in Hong Kong Disneyland.
Our Impression of Hong Kong Disneyland
This is our first trip to Hong Kong Disneyland and it totally changed our impression that it is a theme park made just for families with kids. We as adults with no kids along, TOTALLY ENJOYED our magical day in the park, amused by the attractions, musical, rides and fireworks just like when we were kids. Check out the fireworks show in our video below:
There are many rides in the park that many adults will fear to ride, like RC Racer, Big Grizzly Mountain, Space Mountain and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. But with different height limits for the rides, you can easily find toddlers below 5 years old taking the Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop to view the park from high above. What we found really convenient was the ability to bring our bags along for the rides. As long as they are snugged securely beneath our feet.
Mystic Manor is the latest attraction in the park and it is the ride we enjoyed the most during our trip. The 5 minute ride is enchanting and whimsical, making us head back to take the ride again. There are two different routes for the ride which will let you see either the General with the horse head or the giant crossbow.
Theatrical performances like Festival of the Lion King and The Golden Mickeys are entertaining and mesmerizing musical not to be missed. Here is a video of we created to give you a sneak peek on Best of Hong Kong Disneyland:
With the expansion over the pass three years, now you will need at least two full days to complete every ride, show and attraction in the park. We recommend to go for the two day pass at HK$585 (adult rate) instead of the one day pass at HK$450 (adult rate).
