14 April 2012, Singapore – Italian luxury goods boutique, Galleria Italiana, organized a handbag donation drive last month, in partnership with the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) to mark International Women’s day to raise funds for SCWO.
The women of Singapore showed their support and the drive collected over 450 pre-loved bags for SCWO. Bag donors received $50 Galleria Italiana gift vouchers for each donated bag.
The collected handbags will be sold at SCWO’s thirft shop New2U, and all proceeds will benefit the Star Shelter, a crisis center that provides a safe haven for women.
“We thank Galleria Italiana and the donors for their outstanding support. We believe that the proceeds from the sale of the bags will go a long way in sustaining the Shelter, and providing for the women to encourage them to rebuild their lives for the better” said Selina Gan, General Manager of SCWO.
“SCWO promotes and improves the status of women across all fields, which we as a leather goods boutique catering to women, thoroughly understand and are proud to support. It is important to recognize the role women play in our society and helping the less fortunate by providing them opportunities, is certainly a good way to mark International Women’s Day. We look forward to working with SCWO again in the near future,” added Derrick Yeo, Director of Galleria Italiana.
