Erdinger, the No. 1 privately-owned German wheat beer in the world, is bringing back Erdinger Maifest to Singapore for the third consecutive year. This traditional German beer festival to welcome Frühling (spring) will be held on 9 and 10 May 2014 at the Clarke Quay Central Fountain area from 7pm – 11pm. Admission is FREE to the public.
This year, Maifest at Clarke Quay will feature a towering five-metre high Maibaum (Maypole) at the centre of the festivities. A cultural mainstay of Maifest, the Maibaum symbolises vitality and fertility of nature and is decorated with multi-coloured ribbons. The ends of the ribbons will be held by dancers as they dance around the Maypole for good luck and fortune.
Festival-goers will also get to experience other elements of a traditional Maifest at Clarke Quay like savouring chilled Erdinger beers (Weissbier, Dunkel and Erdinger Alkoholfrei, which has a lighter alcohol content of 0.4% ABV) and a limited-edition brew, the Erdinger Urweisse. Indulge in Erdinger Dunkel hotdogs and Weissbier chicken burgers specially created for this event by Clarke Quay’s participating restaurant Mulligan’s. Revellers can also look forward to performances by German band Ois Easy, who has been invited to Singapore to pump up the ante at the Maifest celebrations.
The iconic Tavern maids, dressed in costumes modelled after traditional German barmaids, will also be serving Erdinger beers and mingling with guests at the event area to add an authentic German touch to the revelry.
