#RaiseForRare is back for the second time until 20 March 2024. The Rare Disease Fund’s fundraising campaign aims to support those with rare diseases by raising funds and awareness of rare diseases. Rare Disease Day falls on 29 February 2024 this leap year.
Up to 3,000 individuals in Singapore are diagnosed with a rare disease. Approximately 700 of them are children. About 80% of rare diseases are genetic, and only 5% have effective treatment.
You can support patients with rare diseases and can opt to set up a fundraising campaign on Giving.sg for the Rare Disease Fund. Also post on Instagram featuring the #RaiseforRare Instagram filter and stickers and share words of motivation for patients with rare diseases using the #RaiseForRare Instagram Filter and GIFs.
The Rare Disease Fund is a charity fund managed by the KKH Health Fund, a part of the SingHealth Fund and supported by the Ministry of Health. RDF alleviates the financial strain of costly medication.
RDF is joined by Rare Disease Society Singapore and Genetics Service at KKH to participate in #LightUpforRare, a global landmark illumination spearheaded by the Rare Voices Australia. In partnership with eight organisations, prominent landmarks like Gardens by the Bay and the Singapore Flyer will be illuminated in hues of blue, in light of the millions living with rare diseases and their families. From 25 February to 3 March 2024, South Beach Tower and Ten Square, Landmark of Good will be lighted from 7pm to 10pm. On 29 February 2024, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Flyer, National Gallery Singapore, Helix Bridge and Singapore Sports Hub will be lighted in hues of blue from 7 pm to 10 pm.
