11 December 2012, Singapore – Legendary English rock band DEEP PURPLE will play on 12 March 2013 at the Star Theatre at The Star Performing Arts Theatre. Ticket sales start at 10am on 13 December 2012.
The band was last in Singapore in 2010. Deep Purple has sold over 100 million albums, including 7.5 million certified units in the US. They received the Innovator Award at the 2011 Classic Rock Awards in London as in October this year it was nominated for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2013.
DEEP Purple was originally called Roundabout in 1968 when it was formed in Hertford. The original group was made up of Ritchie Blackmore, Rod Evans, Nick Simper, Jon Lord and Ian Paice and had gone through many line up changes and an eight year hiatus. The current line up features Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey.
Familiar hits include Shades of Deep Purple, Hush, The Book of Taliesyn, Deep Purple, Machine Head, Smoke on the Water or Gypsy.
