Inflight Dining and Cathay’s commitment to Sustainability

Cathay Pacific is committed to delivering exceptional inflight dining experiences, featuring collaborations with celebrated restaurants and a focus on signature Hong Kong dishes. As Hong Kong’s home airline, Cathay emphasizes providing passengers with authentic local flavours, including freshly brewed coffee and egg tarts crafted to taste just as delightful at high altitudes.

Cathay’s Betsy beer is a signature brew crafted by Hong Kong Beer Co exclusively for the airline to be enjoyed at 35,000 ft. This wheat beer is crafted so that the cabin pressure and altitude wouldn’t dull the taste of the beer. The beer takes its name from “Betsy”, Cathay Pacific’s first aircraft, a Douglas DC-3, which flew passengers around the region in the 1940s and 1950s.

Cathay Pacific is dedicated to sustainability, focusing on reducing single-use plastics. In 2022, the airline successfully eliminated nearly 50% of its annual plastic usage. The goal is to decrease the average number of single-use plastic items per passenger from 7.7 in 2019 to just 1.5 by 2025.
