Are you quite blue? You’ve gotta be – if you missed The Blue Man Group who just drummed their way out of the Mastercard Theatres in Marina Bay Sands.

But the performance art company will come round these parts again, just you wait.

Not for nothing has the trio – Matt GOLDman, Phil Stanton, Chris Wink – been around 25 years. From “disturbing” the peace in street corners of New York City for a start, to now all major theatres in cities around the world.

The Blue Man Group – yes, American – has guested on TV programmes, featured in commercials, and won a clutch of awards for their performance art.

Its show opens with – go on, have a guess – three men in blue on drums. And you’re thinking – c’mon, be honest – is that all there is, all night long, fellas covered in paint making an infernal noise?

I could have stayed home and listened to my neighbour’s kid bang on his Christmas present! Aha. When people sell tickets to something, there’s a good reason.

In The Blue Man Group, multiply by three, and then some, the musicians as well (the men in neon). It’s deceptively simple and minimalist, and hugely entertaining, appealing all at once to adults and children.

And the audience participation is nothing short of brilliant. Like the fine dining on Twinkies.

The acts are thematic; it’s clever, it’s visual, and it’s painting by drums. Covering subjects from information overload to a lesson in art class.

As for the finale…….no spoiler alert here, other than the men in blue wanting their balls back. But catch it before they leave on 24 April 2016.

Tickets are available here.
