GREASE welcomes Vernetta Lopez on opening night as she plays a cameo role on 25 April 2014. Vernetta is a familiar face on the local stage scene as well as on screen in Singapore’s first English sitcom UNDER ONE ROOF. She has also been on radio for 20 years and still hosts the Gold Breakfast Show with the Flying Dutchman.
Vernetta’s cameo role in GREASE will be the DJ from Rydell High during the school dance, which is broadcast live on television. Her character will banter with the audience, play some tunes and present dance winners with a trophy.
Sing along to familiar songs from the movie including Summer Nights, Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted to You, You’re the One That I Want, Greased Lightnin’ and Grease is The Word. GREASE premiered on Broadway in 1972 and the first London production opened six months later. It became a hit movie starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in 1978.
GREASE is in season from 25 April to 18 May 2014 at the MasterCard Theatre in Marina Bay Sands. Performances are at 8pm from Tuesday to Fridays, 2pm & 8pm on Saturday and 1pm and 5.30pm on Sunday.
