Typhoon Haiyan has taken the homes of many Filipinos more than six weeks ago and over 1,500 Filipino children affected in the devastation will be attending Christmas parties hosted by Save the Children. In the devastated city of Tacloban at seasonal events held at 27 child friendly spaces.  300 miles away in Estancia parties with games such as pass the parcel were also arranged for typhoon-affected children.

“Country will be a somber time in the Philippines this year. It will be especially tough for the children who were made homeless and lost loved ones during typhoon Haiyan,” said Ned Olney, country director for Save the Children in the Philippines, “We are doing everything we can to give them basics like food and shelter, a chance to learn in temporary schools, and some fun with activities like Christmas parties.”

About 4.1 million people in the Philippines are still displaced and some of these evacuated families are living in schools. Let’s not forget our friends in The Philippines as we celebrate Christmas this year.
