Spotless Medical may have just revolutionised skincare with their app (available on iOS/Android). Just by taking photos of your affected areas, a certified doctor will put together a comprehensive treatment plan for your skin type, and send it straight to your doorstep. No need to head out, no need to spend extra money on consultation. Just solutions for your troubled skin.
We are all bombarded by media, telling what is the best for our skin. But, really, we are all different! Especially when you are plagued by troubled skin, simply trying out something new may cause some serious damage. Dr. Ian Chen of Spotless Medical believes in thinking basic and, that less is more.
He presents Spotless’ skin care range, curated by Spotless’ doctors specifically for patients with acne troubles and sensitive skin. They promise to cleanse, hydrate and shield without irritation or over-stimulating, and is supposed to be safe for those with highly inflammatory skin conditions.
Consisting of CLEANSE Clarifying Cleanser, CLEANSE Soothing Gel Wash, HYDRATE Soothing Mosituriser and SHIELD Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 30, I gave this set a try and challenged them against the dusty, horrid haze – and this is how they fared!
CLEANSE Clarifying Cleanser (S$28 for 100g) and CLEANSE Soothing Gel Wash (S$25 for 100g)
While I did not have acne-troubled skin, I found them useful in controlling my oily T-zone. The Glycolic acid in the Clarifying cleanser helps to break down the sebum as well as giving a gentle, even exfoliation. It joins forces with the gel wash (containing rosehip oil and seaweed extracts) to calm the redness on my face. Particularly areas where my hands got a little itchy and decided to pop them – don’t ever do this! Nevertheless, it is because of this bad habit that I realise that it does help to cleanse thoroughly while calming down those “hot spots”.
HYDRATE Soothing Moisturiser (S$28 for 50g)
As someone with oily skin, this moisturiser is a godsend. Water-based? More like pure liquid. It dispenses as a gel that quickly dissolves upon body heat. It does not leave an oily residue (well, obviously) and has a feather-light finish. It consists of a whole bunch of goodies including ginseng, fennel, gingko and camelia to soothe and vitamins A, C and E to protect against free radicals.
SHIELD Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 30 (S$28 for 50g)
This non-chemical zinc-based sunblock is light and easily glides on the skin. Sure, it is slightly thicker than say Biore or Curel UV milks, but it neither cakes nor clog pores. I have been using it everyday, considering it gives broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It also contains ginseng, licorice, chamomile and calendula extracts to soothe and revitalise – quite a multitasker.
Previously only made available to Spotless’ clients, these curated skincare range is now available for all. It is simple to use and delivers as promised. Another thing to note is how lovely the bottles are for travel. Particularly the HYDRATE Soothing Moisturiser and SHIELD Antioxidant Suncreen SPF 30. They are both incredibly slim, making it real easy to pack. Those interested in giving the full consultation package from Spotless Medical a try can start off with these skincare range to get a feel of what they can offer.
