Shaving… a man’s woe. Finding the perfect way to shave without having to shave too often is my definition of a good shave.
Recently acquired the latest electric shaver with a cooling blade that promises to offer a less abrasive shave – Braun’s CoolTec. It comes with Braun’s Thermo-Electric-Cooling technology that is usually employed in the construction of spacecrafts and satellites Picture mowing the lawn, soak in the sound, and imagine grass getting sucked into the machine. An electric trimmer on this gadgets lets you cut off those unkempt side burns or nether regions where no one else gets to see. It is powered by a built in rechargeable Li-Ion battery that charges in one hour offering up to 45 minutes of cordless shaving or five minutes quick charge for one shave. This Braun Cooltec CT4s is priced at S$289 and will be sold from 1 November 2013.
Fun to play with, cold to the skin but doesn’t give you a clean cut. Furthermore it’s no fun when you can’t slap the cooling shaving cream on your face before a manual shave.
Now that’s where the Gillette Fusion Proglide Power comes in handy for the occasional traditional shave all men are used to. It also comes with the option that vibrates while you shave, operating on a triple-A battery. Easy to use and not as large and cumbersome as the electric shaver.
My favourite mode of getting rid of facial hair would have to be plucking out the individual strands with a tweezer. Much more fulfilling and perhaps therapeutic to some. Not as pain as you think it would be but avoid plucking the area between your mouth and nose. That’s where it hurts most.
And if all else fails, a visit to Truefitt and Hill does the trick but only if you are willing to fork out S$40 for a wet shave.
So I guess it’s back to the Braun for the daily trim, the occasional shaving cream and manual shaving and finally supplemented by my best friend, the tweezer. Hours of endless pleasure and lots of longer strands lying around.
