18 December 2011, Singapore – Today, more than 3,000 Filipinos celebrated an early Christmas in the largest mass gift exchange during an event for SingTel’s prepaid mobile customers.
The event was held at SingTel Comcentre and was co-organized by SingTel and Globe Telecom. 4385 participants from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Manila including 146 from Singapore broke the previous world record for gift exchanges. Participants formed groups of 10 and exchanged their own gift wrapped gifts at the event.
SingTel will be submitting the record to the Guinness Book of Records.
Free calls were also given out to the first 50 SingTel subscribers to call their loved ones in the Philippines between 1 and 6pm today. A few weeks before, customers who bought a SingTel prepaid hi!Card or topped up their prepaid cards with at least S$10 at Lucky Plaza got special passes to win three sets of Airphil Express Tickets and Nokia C2-01.
The first 50 customer with these special pass also got to rub shoulders with popular Filipino celebrities including Jake Cuenca and Pokwang who also performed at the event today.
