Augmented Reality iPhone App For The Body Shop

The Body Shop and iButterfly

23 September 2011, Singapore – Starting from today till 26 October 2011, The Body Shop stores have been transformed into virtual aviaries as part of its 35th birthday celebrations.  A new iButterfly Asia iPhone application has been deployed for this campaign in Singapore.

Catch these butterflies through your iPhone camera by swinging it like a butterfly net within 150m radius of the vicinity of any of The Body Shop stores in Singapore, and then put them in a collection to redeem for free prizes and discounts off products.  These butterflies are air tags created using augmented reality and location information elements.  With your iPhone’s global positioning system and their motion sensors, you can ‘catch’ these butterflies.

You can download the application from App Store for free for your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad (with iOS 4.2 and above).  Though we feel the iPad may be too big and cumbersome to swing around in the store.

Besides the iButterfly Asia-exclusive offers, 10 grand prizes of S$500 worth of The Body Shop products are up for grabs.

This is the first time The Body Shop is collaborating with Briq, an integrated full-service advertising agency, in its bid to break new ground and expand the use of its digital assets, bringing value to its consumers.

You can also follow The Body Shop Singapore on Facebook to get instant updates and how=to information on The Body Shop 35th Anniversary iButterfly Asia Campaign.

Happy butterfly catching and good luck!
