Myanmar National Airlines, the national flag carrier and state owned airline of Myanmar, based in Yangon introduced direct Singapore – Yangon flights today when its 2 hour 55 minute maiden flight UB01 from Yangon (RGN) landed at Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) Terminal 3 Gate B5 slightly past 3pm.
The Boeing 737-86N aircraft with Aircraft Registration XY-ALB has a three class configuration including Business, Premium Economy and Economy.
UB01 departs Yangon daily except Saturdays at 10.15am and arrives in Singapore at 2.45pm.
The return flight UB02 departs Singapore at 4pm and arrives in Yangon at 5.30pm. Passengers were checking in at Row 10 in Changi Airport Terminal 3 when we were there at 1.45pm today.
Launch fares from Singapore start from as low at S$289 and US$239 from Yangon. Round trip Business Super Saver fares from Singapore to Yangon cost around S$1,277.90 while Business Flexi fares cost around S$1,612.90.
The international Business Class offers an ‘executive jet’ experience at business class prices. There are eight seats in a two-two single aisle configuration. Business Class passengers enjoy a seat pitch of 43 inches, in flight entertainment, priority check-in and boarding, fast track immigration and security, access to Mingalabar lounges as a limo service to and from Yangon City.
Premium Economy class passengers enjoy priority check in and boarding as well as seat pitch of 36″. In flight entertainment is delivered to your laptop, tablet or other devices on board the B737-800s.
Economy passengers have a choice of Saver and Flexible fares and enjoy complimentary food and drink as well as inflight entertainment streamed to your devices.
If you intend to stream the inflight entertainment to your own devices, you would need to download the MNA airstream app from Apple Store on Android Playstore before you fly. Laptop users would need to have the latest Adobe plugin v10.2 or later installed.
Today Myanmar Airways International, Tigerair, Singapore Airlines and Silkair operate single daily direct flights between Singapore and Rangoon. Jetstar operates single daily direct flights with an added flight on Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Singapore is Myanmar National Airlines’ first international route from Yangon and the airline plans to expand to four more cities in Asia Pacific region by early next year.

Great, I think it’s awesome that Burma is opening up to its Asian neighbours. It will need them much more than western powers to get through the next difficult decade. Asean could not have come at a better time, however it may damage Burma’s prospects in the long term. Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia all have such a head start.
