Tailored suits may be a classic, but is nowhere near boring with q. menswear. This newly launched ready-to-wear line from Singapore-based bespoke menswear business, Q MENSWEAR by designer Chong Han San, will continue to deliver classic tailoring with a modern edge.
The collection takes an adventurous turn from its bespoke counterpart. In slim-cut silhouettes, luxurious Egyptian cotton gets unexpected details on its back, sleeves and the asymmetric hem for a touch of avant-gardism. While monochrome seems to be a common theme for the contemporary, Han San introduces pops of blue and red through side meshes and tiled or houndstooth prints.
Covering up the details with a jacket does not take away the q. menswear perception of aesthetics. A meeting calls up their classic jackets in striking blue or a grey houndstooth print while a Black Gold Tuxedo Jacket is perfect for a special occasion (as the Best Man, perhaps). More so, their more casual options of a Bomber Jacket and Flannel Jacket gives that superstar suave, especially when topped with a pair of Ray-Bans.
Those wanting to skip on the layers for fear of the intense weather, worry not. These Vitale Barberis Canonico wool jackets are lined or half-lined in cupro, a lightweight, airy and anti-bacterial defence against tropical humidity.
With q. menswear, Han San has broken the rules of conservative menswear dressing. Keeping it off-the-rack but still maintaining the Q signature to bring out the best of every individual, this could fast become men’s instant gratification for quality, design and individuality all rolled up in one.
q. menswear starts from S$180 for shirts, S$180 for trousers and jackets from S$570. They will be available at Keepers: Singapore Designer Collective (1 August 2015), Takashimaya Level 3 Men’s Department (Early September 2015) and Mporium (Late September 2015).
