I love Singapore. This ever-sunny island gives me the excuse to go all Hollywood with my giant sunglasses all day, every day. This season, Italian eyewear expert, Safilo, has brought in shades from Alexander McQueen, Kate Spade, Fendi to Bottega Veneta to keep our peepers and #OOTD on point.
Retro Cat Eye
If I were to describe the psychedelic era in one pair of sunglasses it would be this. While Fendi adamantly says that they drew inspiration from exotic orchids for this oversized cat-eye beauty, I just can’t seem to shake off that Austin Powers vibe. Perhaps it’s the striking combinations of transparent and vivid shades, but either way, I am sure to get a “Yeah, Baby” from Mike Meyers wearing this.
Futuristic
The ultimate Dior Homme minimalism takes shape with their new Architectural Aluminium series. That matte aluminium angular front and contrasting thin acetate temples will definitely find its way into the Matrix movies. It still keeps a feel similar to the standard aviators, making it quite an easy classic to match your look with.
Flower Power
No one does Floral like GUCCI’s iconic motif. Dating back to 1966, when Rodolfo Gucci commissioned illustrator Vittorio Accornero to create the most beautiful print he could imagine Princess Grace of Monaco – a sumptuous, multi-hued flowered template destined to become a classic.
Hipster Scholar
Round can be the most unflattering, but, nowadays, it has taken on the hipster label – giving wearers an instant burst of IQ (at least on the surface). Marc Jacob’s offerings include the distinctive octagonal gradient shades, reminiscent of the 70s, as well as bold ones with a thin metal frame for a more modern feel.
