Dining: Oysters at Mezza9, Grand Hyatt Singapore In April

In the month of April 2013, mezza9 at the Grand Hyatt Singapore takes advantage of the annual six-week oyster season where oysters from the northern and southern hemispheres are available at the same time.

You would be able to enjoy freshly shucked oysters from 9 different countries including Ireland, France, Japan to North America, for just S$35++ or you can choose to have individual oysters for between S$5++ to S$8++ each.

Oysters are excellent sources of vitamins A & B, iron and zinc and low in cholesterol.  As part of Grand Hyatt Singapore’s initiative to promote sustainable dining, the oysters, being filter feeders with very low impact on the environment, are from sustainable sources.

We tried some of these oysters and personally enjoyed the ones from Canada such as the Kusshi, Okeover bearch and Canadian Pacific Oysters from Fanny Bay as they were not too overpowering nor too salty.   Do not be fooled by the size of the oysters.  Small does not mean tasteless or mediocre.  Pairing oysters with a glass of white wine or champagne is perfect!
