7 June 2012, Singapore – Salvatore Ferragamo introduces its first jewellery collection – a collaboration with Gianni Bulgari. The two lines Futurista and Vara represent an iconic Salvatore Ferragamo element – made with silver, gold and previous stones.
Futurista Line
Shafts of light create unexpected optical illusions: a unique process of its kind devised by Gianni Bulgari using an innovative graphic technique called Spider Web where the silver is transformed into a cobweb on which the iconic motif created in 1930 by the futuristic painter, Lucio Venna, is reproduced.
A web of very fine, hollow, and solid lines forms a three-dimensional trompe-l’oeil effect that recreates the sense of dynamism typical of early-Twentieth Century Futuristic Art. The line includes rigid bracelets, earrings, and pendants, all crafted in silver.
Vara Line
This line takes its name from the famous buckle used by Salvatore Ferragamo as a decoration on the shoes of the same name. Gianni Bulgari transfers this distinctive emblem of the brand onto rigid bracelets and “cabochon” rings in silver, once again using the openwork technique. The graphic lines become soft and fluid, recalling the grosgrain bow on the metal buckle.
More precious and sophisticated pieces in white gold and diamonds are used in this line. The collection is available now at the Salvatore Ferragamo boutique, #01-40 Paragon Shopping Centre in Singapore.
