11 February, 2012, Singapore – Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner touched down today and will be on static display 14-17 February 2012 at the Singapore Airshow in Changi Exhibition Centre.

The new mid sized aircraft demonstrated its long-range capabilities earlier this week by flying a distance of 12,358 nonstop from Seattle’s Boeing Field to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

There are 2 versions of the 787 – the 787-8 and 787-9 with the latter being a stretched version that is able to carry 250 to 290 passengers.   The 787-9 will be launched in 2014 by Air New Zealand.

The 787 has garnered some 870 orders from 59 airline customers around the globe with deliveries already started with launch customer ANA.   Singapore Airlines has 20 of the higher capacity 787-9 on order.
