8 June 2011, Singapore – Sony today announced the launch of new NEX C3, which is the smallest, lightest compact interchangeable lens digital camera. Compared to it’s predecessors the NEX 3, the new NEX C3 comes in an attractive new body design that combines a satisfyingly solid metal top casing with an easy-to-use streamlined grip shape. It’s also reduces the camera body weight from 297g to just 225g.

The Sony NEX series have always been a good option for casual photography with good quality pictures. To make things better, Sony introduces intuitive new “Photo Creativity” interface which replaces technical terms like ‘aperture’, ‘exposure value’ and ‘white balance’ with the friendlier and more intuitive ‘background defocus’, ‘brightness’ and ‘colour’. Making it easier for beginners to pick up their new hobby and taking stunning picture right from the start.

A new in-camera ‘Picture Effect’ setting now lets users add extra impact to stills or HD video during shooting, without the worry of editing images afterwards. ‘Picture Effect’ options include Partial Colour, Retro Photo, Pop Colour, High Contrast Monochrome, Posterisation, High-key and Toy Camera. There’s also a ‘Soft Skin’ effect that removes wrinkles and blemishes from portrait subjects. See video below from 2:24 to 2:55 for the ‘Picture Effect’ in action (sorry that this video is in Japanese but i bet you will understand the logic):

    Hi Dennis,

I think you need to change the title of your write-up. The Sony Nex-C3 is using an APS-C sensor so it cannot be on the Micro Four Third system. Using the APS-C sensor gives its a 1.5 crop factor(1.5 of 35mm frame). The APS-C sensor can be found on the Sony Nex 3, Nex 5 as well as the Nikon D90(im a nikon user).

The APS-C sensor is also on the SLT Alpha 35, the only difference is that, the Alpha 35 is meant for the Alpha lenses hence has no need for a mounting adapter.

You need only to check the engadget link you shared for cross-referencing.

    cheers,
    Hisham
