March 2011, Singapore – Canon introduced two new entry level DSLRs, Canon EOS 600D & EOS 1100D, bridging the gap between ease of a compact camera and the image quality of a DSLR. Using Canon’s Digic 4 image processor, both DSLRs are able to process photos at faster speed, and reducing noise at higher ISO for better clarity.
So what’s the main difference between these two models? EOS 600D will be the higher tier DSLR compared to EOS 1100D. Both models retailing with the EF 18-55mm IS II Kit lens, the EOS 600D will be retailing at S$1,399 while the EOS 1100D at S$899. EOS 600D comes only in standard black, whereas the EOS 1100D offers you a variety of colours of Red, Brown, Metallic Gray and Black with colour matching straps.
For the price difference, here are some additional features that EOS 600D have over the EOS 1100D:
- 18 megapixel resolution
- Full HD video recording capabilities (1920 x 1080)
- ‘Scene Intelligent Auto’ mode – in this mode, the camera will automatically determines the type of scene suitable for the subject, and applies the necessary picture style. For example, the camera is able to detect when human subjects are being taken and adopt portrait style to achieve in pleasing smooth skin tones. Photographer just need to concentrate on capturing the moment, the camera will choose the optimal setting.
- It also come equipped with a swivel LCD screen which allows frame your pictures with ease from any angle.
- EOS 600D is capable of expanding its ISO from ISO 6400 to ISO 12800
