The Casiotron in 1974 was inspired by the insight that “watches simply add up seconds”, where the original digital technologies developed in Casio’s calculator business brought the concept of a fully automatic wristwatch to life. The Casiotron automatically displayed time, and correct month, date and day of the week unless it was a leap year when February had 29 days.

The new TRN-50 incorporates state-of-the-art features, including radio-controlled time adjustment, solar charging, and Mobile Link functions for pairing with a smartphone. The original watch exterior, including its size, is meticulously re-created in a design that meets present-day quality standards. Many details, including the sophisticated textures of the case and band, the dark blue face, and the CASIOTRON logo, are faithfully reproduced.

It also features a super-twisted nematic LCD and Tough Solar charging system. The watch receives time calibration signals from six stations around the world and is equipped with Mobile Link functionality for pairing with a smartphone via Bluetooth to ensure precision timekeeping.

The Casio 50th Anniversary watch TRN-50-2ADR will be available for pre-order at S$699 from 28th February 2024 on https://www.casio.com/sg/watches/casio/casiotron/trn-50-2a
