Cathay Pacific unveiled its new aircraft livery showcased on one of its Boeing 777-300ER (aircraft registration B-KPM) at a special event held at Hong Kong International Airport today. This new livery will be progressively introduced onto Cathay Pacific’s fleet of some 150 aircraft over the next five years. The new Airbus A350 series will be the first fleet to launch with the new livery.
There are three key design elements in the new livery which are most evident on the nose, fuselage and the tail:
- Incorporation of the updated and streamlined brushwing, which was launched in October 2014
- Simplification of the colour palette to Cathay Pacific green, grey and white
- A more prominent display of the Cathay Pacific name and brushwing
The process from concept exploration to the first roll-out of the livery took six months. The new livery is a continuation of the work that began last year to refresh Cathay Pacific’s brand identity. It is a symbol of the airline’s commitment to its home city as well as a visible representation of its promise to offer a Life Well Travelled to customers. Upcoming developments include the introduction of the new Airbus A350 fleet, further enhancements to its products and services and the continued expansion of its network.
“Creating a new livery is much more than a cosmetic exercise. This new look is the latest – and most significant – development in our ongoing efforts to improve the overall customer experience at Cathay Pacific. It is also a highly visible representation of the huge investments we are making in new aircraft and products as part of our ongoing commitment to build Hong Kong’s position as an international aviation hub,” shared Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu.
Some of the more visible enhancements Cathay Pacific has made since last year include a revamped website and mobile app, major enhancements to airport lounges. The Pier First Class lounge reopened earlier this year offering the airline’s first signature scent. The Cathay Pacific Airport lounge in Manila and Bangkok reopened after a revamp. The airline also revamped its amenity kits for First and Business earlier this year.
