American carrier United Airlines introduces the 180-degree flat-bed seats and personal on-demand entertainment in its business and first class cabins on long-haul international flights departing from the New York area. 182 international aircraft with the all new United Global First and United BusinessFirst cabins will be utilised for over 450 daily departures to more than 150 cities from New York’s three major airports Newark Liberty, Kennedy and LaGuardia.
United is also outfitting aircraft with satellite Wi-Fi on long-haul international flights, hoping to have more than 200 aircraft with satellite Wi-Fi before the end of the year. The airline is investing in upgrading its onboard products. United is the first U.S.-based international carrier to offer satellite-based Wi-Fi on long-haul overseas routes. Live television can be accessed with DIRECTV onboard 200 aircraft.
United continues to modernise its fleet this year and will take delivery of more than 24 new Boeing aircraft after introducing nine new international and 18 new domestic routes last year.
