31 January 2013, New York – BlackBerry today unveiled two BlackBerry 10 operating system (OS) smartphones the BlackBerry Z10, a full touchscreen smartphone, and the BlackBerry Q10, a smartphone with physical keyboard. The new BlackBerry Z10 will be launching in UK from 31 Janury 2013, with progressive launches in various regions from then on. Singapore will be getting the new BlackBerry Z10 in stores by end February. The BlackBerry Q10 availability have yet to be announced.
The new BlackBerry 10 OS will come with these key features:
- BlackBerry Hub – In real-time, true multi-tasking capabilities that integrates the calls, message box, calendar and social media apps into one sub menu for an easy & fast access to notification and updates from these channels without opening the individual apps.
- BlackBerry Balance – Switch between Work and Personal custom settings with a flick and click. Companies will be able to grant and restrict application access on the Work settings without affecting the Personal settings.
- Predictive Text on BlackBerry Z10 – Intuitively predict the next word in the sentence, users just have to flick the words up from the keys. Typing in multiple languages without having to change anything — just keep on typing and the keyboard will figure it out.
- BBM Video Chat – Now BlackBerry Messenger supports video chat and you can share screens on their BlackBerry 10 devices with others through the chat.
- BlackBerry Remember -Organise documents, webpages and emails into respective subject folders for easy referencing and archieving.
- Time Shift on Camera – Will automatically take a burst of shots for you to select the best shot.
- Picture Editor – Edit pictures and apply a filter similar to Instagram.
- Story Maker – Create & edit movies with pictures and video clips straight from the smartphone.
BlackBerry World is getting bigger and better with more applications coming up. Angry Birds, Amazon Kindle, EA Games, Gameloft and Skype have all committed to contribute content and applications to BlackBerry World in the near future. Making the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones more than just a work device, BlackBerry is trying their very best to meet your lifestyle needs.
BlackBerry is not just going to stop there. At the keynote, singer-songwriter and actress, Alicia Keys, was announced to be the Global Creative Director for BlackBerry. Alicia Keys will lead BlackBerry in the “Keep Moving Project” to refine and develop better BlackBerry devices in the future.
