5 December 2012, Singapore  – IWC Schaffhausen has given the Ingenieur Watch Collection a complete remodelling focusing on its new partnership with Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.  It is the Official Engineering Partner of the Mercedes-Benz works team.  Sharing the same passion for precision technology and innovation between the two, IWC Schaffhausen takes inspiration from the motor sport using materials used in the sport including carbon fibre, ceramic and titanium.

IWC has cooperated with Mercedes-Benz since October 2004 and unveiled its first two Ingenieur models named after AMG a year later.

There are two watches in the 2013 Ingenieur collection.

Ingenieur Constant-Force Tourbillon (Ref. 5900)

This platinum and ceramic timepiece integrates its patented constant force mechanism in the tourbillon guaranteeing extreme precise rate.  Two barrels supply the higher torque to drive the constant-force tourbillon and supply energy to the moon phase module.

Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (Ref 3792)

The case is made of titanium aluminide and comes with a perpetual calendar and digital date display. Using energy recovery principle, this model uses the energy recovery principle.    Every night, when the date display advances, the quick-action switch taps of a little energy and stores it until the end of the month or year, and makes it available precisely when required.   The semi-transparent sapphire-glass inlays over the date, month and leap year discs lets you observe the complex interplay of the discs as they advance.    The five displays move simultaneously on New Year’s Eve.

Both models are available in either stainless-steel cases or the sports models whose cases were inspired by the materials used in Formula One.
