27 September 2012, Singapore – With the Singapore Grand Prix extended for another five years till 2017, we share some fun and entertainment that comes with the Formula One (F1) season when it comes to town every year. Armed with the full frame DSLR Nikon D800 camera and three heavy duty f2.8 Nikkor lenses, we get the best of what goes on outside the race track.
MEETING THE F1 DRIVERS
Every year when the F1 drivers are in town, they have many engagements other than just racing. Here are some events the F1 drivers attended this year:
Helmets For Heads
Lotus F1 drivers Kimi Raikkonen, Romain Grosjean and Jerome D’ Ambrosio together with Unilever’s personal care brand CLEAR kick started a road safety initiative called “Helmets For Heads”. “Helmets For Heads” aims to raise funds for the purchase and distribution of helmets in lower income communities.
Angry Birds Heikki
Did you know that Caterham F1 driver Heikki Kovalainen has his very own Angry Birds game created by Rovio Entertainment? Heikki Kovalainen met up with his fans for the “Angry Birds Heikki – Fairmont Singapore Challenge”.
Meet & Greet Session At The Ferrari Store
Ferrari F1 Driver Felipe Massa met up his fans at the Ferrari store at Marina Bay Sands Shoppes and did a mini autograph session for the fans at the event.

THE CHANGED CITYSCAPE
One thing I love about every F1 season is the set up of the tracks right in the hub of Singapore which gives that unique cityscape. To many, they may find this change very inconvenient for transportation during this season, but look at it from top down and you will appreciate the achievement Singapore has made to hold the one and only F1 Night Race in the world. THE PARTIES
During the F1 season not just the drivers are in town, renown DJs from different parts of the world will be in town to spin for track side parties happening everywhere. Party goers will not want to miss their chance to enjoy these world class gigs right in the hub of Singapore.
THE CONCERTS
This year we have Jay Chou, Katy Perry and Maroon 5, the very best pop artistes from world to entertain the crowd at the 2012 F1 Night Race. Even many who are not fans of F1 race are dying to get a ticket to the race just only to see their idols performing live at Padang.
Let’s cross our fingers and hope that the artistes list for the concerts and track side events in the next five years will only get better each year, making it not just a race season but also a season for celebration.
