27 September 2012, Singapore – Red Bull Racing Team Formula One driver Mark Webber extended his stay in Singapore after the Formula One Night Race here to promote the search for three of Singapore’s toughest athletes to compete as Team Qantas (Singapore) for the 2012 Swisse Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge adventure race.
The 350km long five day race held within the wilderness terrain of the Tasmania from 28 November to 2 Decemeber 2012 will push the athletes to their limit while trying to gain awareness and raise funds for the Mark Webber Challenge Foundation to help kids with life threatening illness and natural environment conservation projects.
Qantas Airways, the latest sponsor of the challenge , responsible for recruiting the three locals for the Singapore team will announce the mechanics of recruiting at a later date.
