SWISS Introduces Non-Stop Singapore – Zurich Flights May 2013

26 September 2012, Singapore – Switzerland’s flag carrier SWISS introduces daily non-stop service between Singapore and Zurich in a three-class configuration on its Airbus A340-300 aircraft on 13 May next year.

LX 179 departs Singapore at 11.05am arriving in Zurich at 6.10am the next day while LX 178 departs Zurich at 10.45pm and touchdown in Singapore at 5.10pm and tickets go on sale from 8 October via swiss.com.

With SWISS’ Singapore – Zurich service, Singapore will be linked to over 50 cities in Europe adding an additional 1,500 weekly one-way seats boosting capacity on the route by 54%.  This also translates to some 50,000 one-way seats each week from Singapore to Europe come May 2013.

Zurich is the commercial hub of Switzerland and a global financial centre.  According the Changi Airport Group, passenger traffic between the two cities has grown steadily over the years increasing in 2011 by 5% and 15% in the first six months this year.   Singapore tourist arrivals in Switzerland accounts for 35% of total tourist arrivals.

SWISS previously operated a six-weekly Singapore-Bangkok-Zurich service until April 2009.
