28 August 2012, Singapore – The national carrier of the Kingdom of Bhutan, Drukair landed in Singapore today in a special inaugural flight from the Bhutanese city of Paro with Her Royal Highness Princess Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, the eldest Princess of the Bhutan Royal family. She is accompanied by the Bhutan Minister of Information and Communication and Chairman of Druk Holdings and Investment and other senior government officials.
Drukair’s Paro (PBH) – Singapore (SIN) route will commence 1 September 2012 flying twice weekly to Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 1. The Airbus A319 flight between the two cities takes around five hours. The 114 seat configuration will comprise 20 business class seats and 94 economy class seats.
There will be a 45-minute refuelling stopover in Kolkata (CCU).
KB 500 – PBH to CCU to SIN – Departs 7.20am arriving at 3.15pm. (Operates on Wednesday and Saturday)
KB 501 – SIN to CCU to PBH – Departs 6 am arriving at 9.45am (Operates on Thursday and Sunday)
In celebration of its commencement of flights between Singapore and Paro, Drukair is offering promotional (excluding all applicable fees and surcharges) fares for return business class at S$1,208 and economy class at S$1,080 from 1 to 30 September and valid for travel from 15 November 2012 to 28 February 2013.
Singapore is the fifth country to be linked to Bhutan by air. Paro is Changi Airport’s new city link after the addition of Gold Coast (Australia) and Kota Bahru (Malaysia). As at the beginning of August, Changi Airport serves some 100 airlines operating more than 6,200 weekly flights to over 220 cities in 60 countries and territories worldwide.
