Go Thai At Kopi Tiam, Swissotel The Stamford

17 August 2012, Singapore – From now till 26 August 2012, Kopi Tiam at Swissotel The Stamford presents a special authentic Thai spread with Thai chefs Siriluk Kruthaphan and Chanwaluk Pongam, both from Swissotel Nai Lert Park, Bangkok. With their vast culinary experience, including cooking for the Thai royal palace, you can expect to be tantalised with a cuisine that is a blend of sweet, tangy, salty and spicy.

Start with the traditional Tom Yum Goong (S$15), a spicy broth with succulent shrimps, mushrooms and kaffir lime. Or get an appetiser to share. Try the refreshing Moo Nam Tok (S$16), a salad with grilled pork and roasted rice and mint leaves.

Curries are a must for Thai food, especially Green Curry. The Gaeng Kiew Wan Gai (S$17) which is green curry with chicken and eggplant, is prepared with herbs like lemongrass, galangal, lime leaves and Thai basil. To complement the green curry, order something red. Try the Massaman Nuea (S$19), a red curry with tender beef cubes and served with potatoes and peanuts, with flavorful hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Both curries are sweet and mildly spicy, so it is very child-friendly.

For seafood, the Pla Thod Sam Rod (S$18), a fried Seabass with spicy sweet and sour sauce was a total pleaser. It was a perfect blend of sweet and sour. The Seabass was firm and its fried skin made chewy with a dash of sauce poured over it.  Delightful.

If you are dining alone, go for the Phad Thai Goong Sod (S$17), a staple Thai dish of fried rice noodles with prawns, eggs, dried tofu and peanuts.

Complete your meal with desserts like the red rubies in coconut milk – Tub Tim Grob (S$7), or soft bananas in coconut milk – Kluay Buad Chee (S$6).

Taste of Siam is available during lunch and dinner.
