24 July 2012, Singapore – Melody Gardot, Grammy-nominated American signer, song-writer and musician has had a strong jazz and blues influence from the likes of Judy Garland, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and George Gershwin as well as Latin music artists such as Caetano Veloso. Many have compared her music to Nina Simone. Melody Gardot released her latest album THE ABSENCE recently on 28 May 2012 under the Verve label.
Celebrating the new Rose collection of master jeweler Piaget, Melody Gardot created her own version of the french love song La Vie en Rose. This song has always held a special place in her mind and imagination.
“‘La Vie en Rose’ represents a lot of things for me, but mostly it represents my feelings towards my guitar. What it has brought into my life and how things have changed. ‘La Vie en Rose’ is like food for my musical garden. For me, ‘La Vie en Rose’ like music, has allowed me to reinvent myself, and even to change into somebody else completely. Waking up in the morning knowing you can’t move or speak, as was the case after my accident, can be difficult and painful. But your imagination feeds on everything that will happen in the future. We all need a new lease on life from time to time!”

‘La Vie en Rose’ is available on The Absence (Deluxe). The Absence Standard/ Deluxe is available digitally on iTunes Music store , SingTel AMPed and StarHub music store as well as at HMV, That CD Shop, Gramophone, CD-Rama & Prologue (at selected stores only).
