You can expect 5 days of fashion shows from 19 labels of which 25% are returning brands from the previous year’s MFW. MFW Singapore 2012 will put the spotlight on British men’s fashion by bringing to Asia, for the first time, the highly sought after SPENCER HART collection to Singapore’s runway. Helmed by the founder and creative designer, Nick Hart, Spencer Hart’s bespoke creations have been worn by A-list celebrities such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Robbie Williams, David Bowie, Matthew Williamson, Tommy Hilfger, Bill Nighy and Benedict Cumberbatch have been graced on the red-carpet world over.

Another influential and distinct designer at this year’s fashion week is Hisashi Fukatami, the creative genius behind the Japanese cult label DIET BUTCHER SLIM SKIN. Other Japanese labels making its appearance at MFW Singapore 2012 include FACTOTUM, JUN HASHIMOTO and PASCAL DONQUINO.

The young, but already established and highly sought after New York designer Richard Chai is another big name that will grace this year’s event.

After its debut at the inaugural MFW Singapore last year, Korean label SONZIO has chosen to show at the Opening Gala of MFW Singapore 2012 instead of closing the Seoul Fashion Week 2012 which takes place in early April. The label has dressed Korean celebrities and KPOP groups such as 2PM, Super Junior, Rain, TVXQ and Won Bin amongst many others.

Other Korean labels that will be showcased at MFW Singapore 2012 include BEYOND CLOSET, D.GNAK, GENERAL IDEA, RESURRECTION and VANDAL.

On the international front, you can expect BODYBOUND from the UK, RECKLESS ERICKA from Singapore, ALEXIS MABILLE from France and CASELY HAYFORD and MATTHEW MILLER from the UK.

For the first time in Singapore, luxury leather goods, footwear and apparel label MCM will showcase its full range of Autumn/Winter 2012/13 at the closing gala on 22 April 2012.

“As MFW Singapore takes its steady steps towards achieving its position as the 3rd international menswear fashion capital, it aims to be an all-inclusive global platform to showcase Asian & Singapore brands alongside international labels, for all to enjoy”, said Frank Cintamani, Chairman of MFW Singapore, Women’s Fashion Week (WFW) Singapore and Haute Couture Week Asia.”

From the premium classical sounds of Steinway & Sons pianos to the heart-pumping pop, rock and hip hop, several J- and K-pop stars will descend upon the Sands Expo and Convention Center to raise the glamour and style quotient of the event. You can expect 10 Asian band performances during the event. More details of the bands will be announced later.

WORLD RUNWAY II, the second installment of a fashion styling competition that was inaugurated last year, will be using MFW Singapore 2012’s platform to showcase the ingenuity and talent of stylists from Singapore, Japan, and the UK.

“World Runway has set its sights on expanding across Asia and the rest of the world, with our first show in held in Singapore in 2011. Given Singapore’s position as a fashion leader, we are excited to now be a part of MFW Singapore 2012 as a means of raising awareness of World Runway to a larger regional and global audience,” said Mr Tetsu Ohama, Direct Manager of World Runway II.
