16 March 2012, Singapore – Samsung’s first line up of Android tablets for 2012, the new Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) and GALAXY Tab 2 (10.1)will also be the first tablets to run the latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System.
It’s surprising that Samsung did not include LTE (4G) into the new GALAXY Tab 2 series. The tablets are only supporting 3G and WIFI. Perhaps we may expect more LTE tablets to be announced later this year?
Here are the features for Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) and GALAXY Tab 2 (10.1):
- Google Play – Now your favourite music, books, movies, apps, and games are all in one place that’s accessible from the Web and any Android device.
- Face Unlock – unlocks the tablet through unique facial recognition software.
- Voice Call – make calls with your tablet
- ChatON – Samsung’s cross-platform communication service, ChatON uses phone numbers instead of ID and passwords, and provides easy instant messaging and group chatting in various formats—images, video, voice, contact.
- AllShare Play – allows users to play or live-stream their multimedia content on their GALAXY Tab 2 tablets from PCs, other Samsung smart devices as well as third-party web storages. Users can also easily transfer content to other devices or directly to web services.
- Samsung Hub services – Music Hub, Readers Hub, Game Hub, & Video Hub
- Upgraded Touchwiz – this new user interface features Hub widgets for one-step access to users’ content in Hubs.
- S Suggest – a new service offering that recommends apps suited to users’ tastes directly on a home screen.
- microSD Card Slot – For memory expansion of up to 32GB
The new Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) and GALAXY Tab 2 (10.1) will both be available in 2nd quarter of 2012 in 16GB.
