17 February 2012, Singapore – The four day trade show for the Singapore Airshow 2012 ends tonight and organisers have announced that this year’s event closed with a record value of deals announced worth over US$31 billion.
Some of the major announcements include contracts for Boeing (Lion Air’s US$22.4 billion), Airbus (US$3.4 billion A320NEO) and Pratt & Whitney (US$1 billion Go Air’s A320 Neo).
Some 900 exhibtors from 50 countries and 266 delegations from 80 countries flew into Singapore for the airshow. In all, some 38,000 trade visitors from 119 countries visited the show during the first three trade days compared to some 35,000 in 2010. The organisers hope to hit their target of 45,000 visitors by tonight. 30% of these trade visitors were from overseas.
The next Singapore Airshow will be held from 11 to 16 February 2014 at the Changi Exhibition Centre. Organisers announced that 70% of this year’s exhibitors have already confirmed their return two years later.
When asked about the highlights of 2014, Jimmy Lau, Managing Director of Experia Events, the Airshow’s organisers explained that the well attended business forums, aviation leadership summit, APAC Security Conference will continue. Jimmy hopes to increase participating countries as well as getting more participation from the Chinese market.
