Travellers flying in and out of Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur can indulge in shopping and dining inside Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). KLIA was first opened in 1997 and has won awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007. (Update: If you are flying into the new klia2 then check out our post here.)
Come early to the airport before your flight departs so that you have sufficient time to enjoy the facilities and retail in this lifestyle destination. KLIA has evolved from an aviation hub to a self-sufficient and multi functional airport city that moves ahead with time and offers continuous excitement.
There are over 60 shopping outlets in the restricted area ranging from boutiques, accessories and apparels, beauty, health and personal care, books, souvenirs and gifts, candies, chocolates and delicatessen, cigars, children’s wear and toys, duty free, IT & digital lifestyle, fine jewellery, specialty stores and watches. There’s something for everyone here.
Beauty and Cosmetics
Do drop by the well-known beauty brands such as Kiehl’s, M.A.C., Bobbi Brown, Anna Sui, Shu Uemura, Benefit, Crabtree & Evelyn, SKII, La Mer and La Prairie.
Fashion
There are also many familiar international retailers such as Ralph Lauren, Hush Puppies, Braun Buffel and Charles Keith side by side with local brands Poney, Khazanah and Lizara.
At Khazana, you can pick out some clothes by local designers as well as other souvenirs.
For the little ones, visit Poney which sells a range of fashionable kidswear.
Food to Bring Home
And if you are looking for foodstuff to bring back to your family and friends, there are a couple of outlets at the airport There’s Godiva as well Agrobazaar, which sells locally produced food stuff.
After all the shopping, replenish your energy at one of the many food and beverage outlets. Enjoy the view of the planes while having a cuppa or fill your tummies with local cuisine as well as a spread of various cuisines.
Relax
There is also AyerSpa that has 5 treatment rooms, 2 shower rooms, a foot massage area as well as a pedicure and manicure area. Spa packages, body massages, treatments, facial spa, pedicure and manicure as well as waxing are offered. They are open from 7am to 12am daily.
