13 August 2011, Singapore – A day after the first ever launch of 3D mobile handset in Singapore, the HTC EVO 3D, LG announces the pricing and availability of the Optimus 3D. Two 3D handsets announcements in two consecutive days. Will the popularity of 3D mobile handsets fly or would that be an uphill task for the manufacturers. In our opinion, there needs to be more stickiness through content, technology and also ease of use amongst consumers. For now, content such as videos and games are still rather limited. Sharing of 3D photography is still limited.
Anyway, here’s a quick introduction for LG Optimus 3D.
LG Optimus 3D is not just a glasses-free 3D smartphone, it also takes the smartphone experience into new territory with its Tri-Dual configuration – dual-core, dual-channel and dual-memory – which allows for improved performance when multi-tasking, viewing graphics-intensive websites, enjoying a movie or playing graphics-intensive games.
What is dual-channel and what is so good about it? To make things simple, here’s a simple video clip from LG that explains it all.

The LG Optimus 3D also comes with software that allows for real-time conversion of 2D to 3D or vice versa for photo and video content. A software for converting 2D games will be available for download (more details to be announced soon) enabling users to enjoy a variety of multimedia content in 3D.
LG Optimus 3D enables you to capture high quality 3D content with 3D video stabilization technology and real-time misalignment correction algorithm which automatically corrects for shake during recording. The smartphone’s wide viewing angle makes watching videos and movies much more convenient and comfortable. It will also come preloaded with 3 games (Let’s Golf 2, Asphalt 6 and N.O.V.A), and 7 more free games from GAMELOFT downloadable on the Android Market (Assassin’s Creed, GT Racing, Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus, Ultimate Spiderman: Total Mayhem, Shrek Kart, 2011 Real Football and Star Battalion) for your ultimate 3D gaming experience.
