14 June 2011, Singapore – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) and HTC Corporation announced today that SingTel customers will be the first in Asia to experience the HTC ChaCha, a next generation smartphone that is specially built for social networking on the move. The HTC ChaCha is available in Singapore, exclusively to SingTel customers from 14 June 2011.

Powered byAndroid Gingerbread 2.3.3 technology, the HTC ChaCha is the first smartphone to feature a dedicated Facebook® button for one‐touch access to the key functions of Facebook. With a single press of the button, users can update their status, upload photos, share websites, ‘Check In’ to a location and more. For example, users can take a photograph of friends on their phone and upload it instantly to Facebook by simply pressing the button. Or they can share with their friends what song they are listening to by pressing the button while listening to music on the phone; the music track is automatically identified and shared on Facebook. The button is context‐aware, pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook.

The HTC ChaCha makes it simple to stay in touch with friends using Facebook Chat and Messages. Facebook messages and conversations are integrated within the phone and appear within text messages and email inboxes alongside regular conversations. When a phone call is made, the dialer screen displays friends’ latest statuses and photos, and even indicates if their birthday is approaching soon. The same updates are also displayed when calls are received from Facebook friends.

Photos and video chats can be captured in crisp details via a 5‐megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, and a VGA front‐facing camera. The HTC ChaCha also features a brilliant 2.6‐inch, 480 x 320 resolution landscape touch screen for an exceptional multimedia and web surfing experience.To keep users entertained on the go, the HTC ChaCha is pre‐loaded with SingTel’s award‐winning AMPed music service, MobileTV video streaming service as well as MySingTel app which allows customers to view their SingTel bills, manage their mobile services, check data usage and subscribe to overseas dataroaming on the go.

The HTC ChaCha is available in stunning shades of Modern White, Phantom Black and Amethyst Purple exclusively from SingTel for $0 with 3G Flexi AMPed plans and selected iPlans, suggested retail price (without contract) at SGD$438.
