3 June 2011, Hong Kong – From 17 June to 31 August, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and VISA offer shoppers in Hong Kong multiple chances of winning prepaid credit and cash vouchers under the “Hong Kong Summer Spectacular” programme. There are loads of retail and dining deals, as well as entertainment in town meant for travellers from around the region.
According to HKTB Executive Director, Mr. Anthony Lau, “As the global economy and consumer sentiments continue to improve, we have been seeing positive growth in visitor arrivals and spending since the beginning of this year. In the first quarter of 2011, per capita spending by overnight visitors went up by 10% year-on-year to around HK$7,300. To further stimulate visitors’ spending during the summer, taking advantage of this peak travel season among visitors in Mainland China and short-haul markets, we are rolling out a series of attractive promotions with Visa. We hope these will give visitors even greater incentive to come and spend in Hong Kong, further boosting the visitor arrivals and tourism receipts for our city.”
This year, there will be two brand new “spend to win” promotions and a contest for both visitors and local residents
“Pay by Visa” Promotion
Three Visa cardholders who have made the most number of transactions with a single Visa card for each week during the 11 weeks of the Hong Kong Summer Spectacular will each receive HK$10,000 – Visa Prepaid Card. The more you swipe your Visa card, the higher the chance of winning. You would also need to register on Visa’s website.
“Visa go Surprises” Promotion
You may be randomly identified at designated shopping malls by a flash mob on Saturdays during the promotional period and instantly receive cash vouchers upon presenting a shopping receipt from that mall. If you paid with your Visa card, you would be awarded an additional Visa prepaid card.
“Visa Go Hong Kong Super Shopper” Contest
To showcase Hong Kong’s cutting edge as a trend-setting destination, consumers from key visitor source markets and Hong Kong will be selected by HKTB and Visa to form teams of two to take part in the contest from 30 to 31 August 2011. Contestants will have to purchase items for a stylish make-over within a certain budget, with the advice from professional stylists. The teams will be required to catwalk in the items they have purchased. The winning team walks away with HK$200,000 Visa spending amount.
