AirAsia Introduces Fuel Surcharge From 3 May

AIRASIA AIRCRAFT

29 April 2011, Sepang, Malaysia – AirAsia is reintroducing fuel surcharges from 3 May 2011 for all domestic and international routes to offset the escalating jet fuel price, which has exceeded US$140 per barrel.  However, all flight bookings made before 3 May 2011 will not be affected.  AirAsia abolished fuel surcharge in November 2008, followed by a bold move of implementing a No Admin Fee policy in 2009.

AirAsia’s ancillary products and services such as Premium Seats, Pick-A-Seat, Baggage Supersize, Hot Meals, AirAsia Insure, AirAsiaMegastore and cargo are a growing revenue stream for AirAsia. The income from these services allows the airline to offset the effects of fuel price hikes and other rising operational costs.
