Zee Cine Awards 2011 Results and Photos at Marina Bay Sands

14 January 2011, Singapore –  Marina Bay Sands in Singapore was transformed to a venue for the who’s who of the Indian entertainment industry with the Zee Cine Awards today, after months of preparation.

Asia’s largest ballroom on the 5th level of the Sands Expo and Convention centre was transformed into a theatre of dreams and Marina Bay Sands created a larger-than-life stage that enthralled viewers tonight with its grandeur and scale.  President of Singapore SR Nathan was also present to witness the awards.

About 5,000 tickets were snapped up for this year’s award ceremony within the short span that they were on sale for.  An additional 3,000 tickets were offered to accommodate the mass demand at Hall C of the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

Singapore Tourism Board has reported positive tourism numbers for 2010.  India contributed to an increase in visitor arrival numbers and tourism receipts. In the first 3 quarters last year, India was one of Singapore’s top 5 markets for tourism receipts that generated S$753 million (based on spend in the Shopping, Accommodation, F&B, Medical and others except Sightseeing and Entertainment categories).   This is a 30 per cent year-on-year increase compared to 2009.   In November last year, India was the fastest growing tourist market for Singapore in terms of visitor arrivals – with a 46.3 per cent growth over the previous year, the highest growth out of the top 15 markets.

At the press conference, held today hours before the start of the Awards ceremony, Puneet Goenka, Chief Executive Officer of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited shared that it took them 12 months to plan for this event.    He shared with the media present that the a Jury panel consisting of Internal staff and industry players as well close to 5 million votes from viewers’ votes contributed to the selection of this year’s nominees.

Shahrukh Khan graced the press conference by making a surprise appearance.

Best Film : Dabangg, Golmaal 3, My Name Is Khan, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Peepli Live, Rajneeti.
