1 December 2010, Singapore – The cast and crew members of Walking with Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular finally arrived in Singapore on 29 November at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from Bangkok. 32 shipping containers were transported on road through Malaysia then down to Singapore via the Causeway. The cargo contained 20 high-tech mechanical dinosaurs, lighting and sound equipment, and the stage props that are part of the S$30 million mega-blockbuster production.

Yesterday, we witnessed the unloading of the extinct creatures. Each dinosaur required more than 10 people to assist in the unloading.

The show today was full house, captivating audiences of varying ages, parents and their children alike!  Present were also celebrities and their children.

I was surprised that the performance managed to get my full attention throughout the duration of the entire duration of the show which comes in two acts.  The look, roar and actions of the dinosaurs were very real.

Act One

Get an introduction as the lights blackout and music begins. Huxley, a palaeontologist invites the audience to ‘come with me on a journey … come walking with dinosaurs!” and asks the audience to think back over many generations to when there was no human civilisation but just one single continent called Pangea.

You’ll be introduced to the Triassic and Jurassic Period.

During the Triassic Period, you’ll watch dinosaur eggs hatch and be wowed by the Liliensternus and Platerosaurus. During the Jurassic Period, you’ll be introduced to the Stegosaurus, Allosaurus and Brachiosaurus family. Here you’ll get a better understanding of the Allosaurus’s constant fight for survival.

Act Two

In act two, you’ll learn about the Cretaceous, MidCretaceous Period and how the MidCretaceous period was wiped out. There’s more action in act two. You’ll be introduced to one of the largest flying reptiles – the Ornithocheirus. A nasty bunch of killers called the Utahraptors come into the picture. The landscape changes during the MidCretaceous period with the addition of flowers. Here there’s co-evolution with the introduction of Torosaurus. The ultimate predator, Tyrannosaurus Rex comes into the picture and the show approaches its climax when a huge comet travels towards the earth causes the destruction of 65% of all life on the planet and the destruction of giant dinosaurs.
