Lufthansa has completed its most extensive cabin renewal programme ever. All 106 of the German airline’s long-haul aircraft are equipped with the new cabin interiors and newest seats in Business and Economy Class. 76 of the aircraft features the new First Class cabins.
Lufthansa has invested around one million Euros per day in refurbishing its cabins since 2011. The airline has spent around 1.5 billion Euros. Lufthansa Technik exchanged, modified or installed 600 First Class seats, 7,000 Business Class seats and 27,600 Economy Class seats. 3,600 new Premium Economy class seats are being installed in Lufthansa’s long-haul aircraft and will be available from autumn onwards.
The new Business Class features a full flat bed with a horizontal reclining area of 1.98 metres in length. The new restaurant service launched in August this year has been introduced successively on all A380 flights as well as the Gulf and Asia routes providing guests with the service of a high-class restaurant. Each table is set individually by the cabin crew. Food and drinks are served directly from the galley instead of from the food trolley.
New inflight entertainment seats have been installed with an increase of audio and video content. The airline has also recently introduced FlyNet with broadband internet access via an onboard WLAN(WiFi) allowing guests to go online or watch news and major sports events via the FlyNet online portal. Three-quarters of all long-haul aircraft have been equipped with a direct access to the mobile network so that you can send and receive text messages or synchronise data with your own mobile devices.
The Star Alliance member airline was recently named “Europe’s Leading Airline” for the fifth time in a row at the World Travel Awards on 5 September in Sardinia. It was also awarded “Europe’s Leading Airline Lounge” for the lounges at Frankfurt Airport. During the World Airline Awards in June, Lufthansa came top in “Best Airline Transatlantic” and “Best Airline in Western Europe”.
It was also named “World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge” and Business Travel Awards 2015’s “Best Short-Haul Airline”.
