Leave your work shoes behind and gear up for a rainbow of fun at The Colour Run which will debut in Singapore over the weekend of 17 and 18 August 2013 at Sentosa Beach Station. Dubbed the ‘Happiest 5K on the planet’, the 5KM Run was first launched in the United States in early 2012 and has gained massive popularity in more than 50 cities worldwide. The race’s highly anticipated debut in Singapore has since garnered over 20,700 likes on its Facebook page and some 16,000 participants are expected to take part in this Singapore rendition of the race.
Inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours, participants of The Colour Run will be splashed with different colour dyes (made from plant sources and cornstarch) at every kilometre of the race. Unlike a typical race, The Colour Run is not timed and welcomes all demographics. The only rules are: Wear white at the starting line and finish plastered in colours. There may not be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but there will be a huge “Colour Festival” at the finishing line, using colour to create plenty of photo opportunities.
That is not all. In keeping with the race’s beliefs of health, happiness and giving back to the community, $1 from every registration will be donated to Project Happy Feet; a charity supported by the race’s presenting sponsor, CIMB Bank. Happy Feet is a Singapore non-profit organisation that empowers lives of underprivileged children in developing countries through education programmes.
If that sounds like a good time, you can register online at www.thecolorrun.com.sg from Friday, 28 June at noon.
