27 February 2013, Singapore – Forbes Travel Guide releases its 55th announcement of Five-star, Four-star and Recommended hospitality establishments globally.

Eight new hotels and two spas in Asia have achieved the Five-Star award this year which include seven in Hong Kong, five in Macau, three in Singapore, two in Shanghai and Beijing’s first Five-Star hotel rating – the China World Summit Wing, a Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts property.  Forbes Travel Guide revealed its new Recommended rating category for well-appointed hotels and restaurants that deliver enhanced service, distinct value and a strong sense of place.    There are now a total of 18 Five-Star rated hotels in Asia – an 80% increment compared to last year.

Singapore – Capella Singapore , The Fullerton Bay Hotel and Mandarin Oriental Singapore.  Shangri-La and The Fullerton Hotel were awarded the Forbes Four-Star hotel rating.

Hong Kong – InterContinental Hong Kong, The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, Island Shangri-La Hong Kong, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, The Peninsula Hong Kong.  Hong Kong is the city with the most Forbes Five-Star hotels worldwide.

Macau – Altira Macau, Crown Towers at Cotai Strip, Encore Macau, Mandarin Oriental Macau, Spa at Encore Macau with Wynn Resorts holding more Five-Star awards than other brands in Macau.

Beijing – China World Summit Wing, Beijing

Shanghai – The Peninsular Shanghair, Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund
