Over 40 billion Apps Downloaded from Apple App Store

9 January 2013, Cupertino, California – Over 40 billion apps from the Apple App Store has been downloaded with nearly 20 billion downloaded last year. There are over 500 million active accounts in the App Store and last December it had a record breaking download of over two billion downloads. The App Store has over 775,000 apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in 155 countries. There are 300,000 native iPad apps. App Store has a range of apps in 23 categories including newspapers and magazines in Newsstand, games, business, news, sports, health and fitness and travel.

Developers have been paid over seven billion dollars by Apple to date.
