7 January 2013, Las Vegas (Business Wire) – Philips releases the world’s first Soundbar with detachable speakers – PHILIPS FIDELIO SOUNDBARS HTL 9100 at CES 2013. This is Philips first detachable wireless side speakers that automatically changes from virtual Surround Sound to 5.1 channel Surround Sound on Demand when removed. The first Soundbar in the Philips Fidelio range also features a wireless subwoofer.
The new offering is touted to offer virtual surround sound when the speakers are attached to the main unit and used as a Soundbar for every day use. Detach the speakers from the sides and place them in the rear of the room to enjoy true surround sound. There are no wires, as they use Philips proprietary wireless audio technology.
When fully charged, the detachable surround sound speakers offers up to 10 hours of audio pleasures. The Orientation Sensor in the Soundbar is able to determine whether the speaker in lying horizontally or if it is mounted on a wall. A second HDMI port allows you to easily link your media system or goal console to the Fidelio Soundbar. Connecting to any Bluetooth-enabled device is simple.
The HTL9100 will be available in May with a suggested retail price of US$799.99.
