28 November 2012, Singapore – Established celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz’s commissioned photographs in the third edition of The Macallan Master of Photography series features Scottish actor Kevin McKidd from TV drama series Grey’s Anatomy and cult film Trainspotting.  Annie was tasked to interpret four single cask variants released for the first time and came out with four powerful images shot in and around New York City.

Annie started out as a photojournalist for Rolling Stone in 1970 while she was still a student at the San Francisco Art Institute.   Her first major assignment was for a cover story on John Lennon and she became Rolling Stone’s chief photographer in 1973.  She had shot one hundred and forty two covers and published photo essays on scores of stories, including the resignation of Richard Nixon and of the 1975 Rolling Stones tour during her tenure at Rolling Stone.

Kevin McKidd is from Elgin which is just miles away from The Macallan Distillery on Speyside.  Kevin used to work at the distillery in his youth and remains a Macallan drinker till this day making it meaningful for him to be photographed for Macallan.

Macallan Masters of Photography: Annie Leibovitz Features Kevin McKidd - The Bar
The Bar – Shot in the Red Spot Bar, in Hudson. The note of Vibrant Oak in the 1991 bottle makes a statement but is refined enough not to dominate.
Macallan Masters of Photography: Annie Leibovitz Features Kevin McKidd - The Library
The Library – Modelled on Sir Walter Scott’s library in his home in Abbotsford in the Scottish Borders providing a setting rich in heritage suited to McKidd’s seated, powerful and reflective moment. The deep red mahogany 1995 whisky with rich notes of raisin and chocolate orange has a long, lingering finish which matches the contemplative mood of the shot.

The Gallery – Shot in upstate New York with an indulgent backdrop to the intense, sensual moment the actor shares with his leading lady. Accompanied by the 1989 single malt, burnished oak gives out a rich intensity which, like the image, has a dry finish that teases.
