27 August 2012, Singapore – Auntie Mooi from Penang, Malaysia has specially travelled down to Singapore just to promote her specialty, Auntie Mooi Penang Laksa at Malaysian Food Street in Resorts World Sentosa for a limited time only.
Auntie Mooi’s Penang Laksa is a well known Penang Street Food, which has travelled to many cities in Asia to promote the food culture in Penang. Served in a thick and spicy broth made from chillies, galangal, lemongrass, ginger flower, tamarind (assam) and three different types of fish meat, the broth is spicy & sour with an aromatic scent. Topped with sliced veggies, mint leave, chilies, shredded red onions and prawn paste, Auntie Mooi’s Penang Laksa is generous with her ingredients.
The rice noodles are thicker than the usual laksa noodles we find in Singapore, giving that extra bite and pairs well with the spicy & sour broth. I personally was never a fan of Penang Laksa, as my previous encounters had been too fishy for my liking. But Auntie Mooi’s recipe totally changed opinion of Penang Laksa. Her Penang Laksa is tasty, savoury and yet not fishy. A MUST TRY for all Laksa fans out there.
Auntie Mooi’s Penang Laksa will be available from now till 9 September 2012 at Malaysian Food Street at S$5 per bowl.
